Tongeren
3 Days, incl.:
Take advantage of your first day and start exploring the oldest town of Belgium. If you arrive early enough on a Sunday morning, you won't want to miss out on the largest antique market of Benelux. Take a walk to the Roman and the medieval walls, visit the Basilik church, the UNESCO listed Beguinage and the refurbished Roman temple.
Collect your bike and travel back in time. In April and May, you will come across the blossoms of Haspengouw. Take castle and church route before you bike off to the marl caves in the area around Riemst, where you will find fossils, bat colonies and even drawings of prehistoric animals.
After you've had some knowledge about Tongeren, visiting the Gallo Roman Museum will help answer all your questions through its permanent exhibition or its temporary exhibitions.
